LOVE the TRANSLUCENT DIAL on the Omnion Phantom Watch! -Full Review
Great and interesting video Michael. One tip: after lifting the hands, just let gravity do the work to slight the hands in a cover box. Just by angleing the movement.
Been watching your channel and you have inspired me to start a collection and buy watches to restore following what you do. Saw this and remembered i still had the first watch my parents bought me in the early 1970s...a red LED CBM time digital...a bit of a search through a couple of boxes and there it was, going to get a couple of LR44s tonight if i can and see if it'll live again! How to make a 57 year old feel 7 again.... 😂
Great job Mike and I have got to say I would have passed on it but you did wonderful and thanks for another great video.
That little trick about leaving the click in is really helpful, thank you so much for saying that.
This was a great video. I always wondered exactly how the tuning fork connected to the wheels and I have to admit it was not what I expected. You did an amazing job bringing this back to life.
Thanks, Mike, much appreciated. Mistakes and mishaps are teaching moments and are more valuable than seeing things go smoothly. Had a good laugh when you found the disappointingly glued dial foot, and I thought, use acetone, then you used acetone. Then when you showed the excess of oil, I thought, dip the whole thing like a Timex, and you dipped it like a Timex.
Very nice work well done 👍
I recommend they change the name to Vito. Love the boxed Chrystal and wouldn’t change it for a bevel because it would clash with the rest of the watches curves. Everything else is perfect.
What's the model number off the little parkside polisher?
What a fantastic restoration after a blessed victory!
Thanks, Mike, that was great. Appreciate it greatly.❤😂🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
I normally pass on 1-hour videos but here I sit, watched the whole thing, and enjoyed every minute of it.
Well thank you so much for your patience and I hope you enjoyed it and found these types of watches as fascinating as I do.
Thanks sir hard job your doing nice.
Most welcome
deberias traducirlo al español aumentarias mucho las suscripciones
What a neat watch. I've never seen one with coils before. Hard to believe it was first thought up in the 60's. Is that why people tap their watches? To restart their watches if they seem to stop?
I dont think so. Once these are running they wont stop until the battery dies.
Electronic watch😂
kind of, if you have never worked on a tuning fork before. The mechanics and engineering are quite something. This was all well before quartz was a thing.
Incredible 🙏 you are a master-blaster
Awesome video! I have been struggling to find the part number for the battery hatch. I have a M158 but do not have the hatch. any help?
I don’t think Seiko issued part numbers for such models. If it were anywhere it would be in case documents which there are some on my website. Even with the past number you then looking for something that is probably rare to find for sale in the packet.
how long do the batteries last in such a watch?
Fabulous watch and totally absorbing video..
What model is your scope and would you buy it again? Thanks
I have a quartz with the same problem. My answer was not to buy a quartz watch again, I have an Accutron but without a battery for the same reason.
So sorry to hear that. I mean your parents died. My father died twenty five years ago and my mother is ninety. I hope she will stay forever. Which she of course will not. Hopefully a couple of years from now. Nice touch according to the crown. I mean because this was the part he touched. :) 🕐⚙️🍸
Amazing job, well done. That seconds hand is just mesmerizing.
Very cool but how do you remember where each piece goes lol
Thank you for your brilliant content
Thank you. Very generous of you. It will go towards more projects. Really appreciated.
A superb restoration Michael! It looks amazing. In Fraser's Scottish accent "I never doubted you Captain".
Super work Mike !
Стварно пријатан за гледање видео. Веома занимљив сат, али још боља рестаурација.
Fantastic ❤
Great work!!
Thank you
That's a genuinely gorgeous watch, Mike! I don't think I'd ever wear one though cause the vibration would probably annoy me hahaha
You don’t feel them vibrate at all, just hum if you hold them up to your ear, or put the watch on your bedside table !
gute Arbeit, ich hatte auch mal eine Accutron, die leider nicht lief
That was an interesting experiment and fun to watch. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Once again a Tissot with plastic galore... rather have a Chinese watch with metal gears and needing oil. So glad i didn't buy the Tissot at Christmas...🙏. Thanks for the video btw as success and knowledge is built upon having endured such failures,so its important too. I watched it through and learnt from it once again. 👍
This is a watch from the 70s and does not reflect modern watches. This was a good idea at the time in an era where plastics were new in watches and servicing costs put people off. I think the concept was good but poorly promoted and clearly not designed to last 50 years .
Perfect work Bravo!
What a fantastic job! I think I’ve learned that I never want to even contemplate doing a service on a citizen
Haha, don’t be put off, watch the video I just posted on a citizen Hisonic!
Fascinating to see Accutron guts up close.
If you are refurbing leather saddle soap and neatsfoot oil will revive just about anything.
Enjoyed the video, I don't know why you knock yourself you do great job and we all learn from mistakes at least you are honest enough to leave them in.
I’m have high expectations for my own work I guess. Also too honest for my own good
Tuning fork = Bulova what i find interesting is how they think of these movements in the first place!
The irony is decades later Citizen then own Bulova. Yes an Accutron movement , they invented this tech which I still find incredibly fascinating
Love it and love the dial. Where does anyone buy one of these? Or are they way too expensive?
Well they are not common in the UK. But you can find Hisonics on eBay and places but as to their condition mechanically and visually would all depend. A good one like this, serviced I think would be £300 +
excellent work, as always!
Thanks again!
Great video Mike, really enjoyed it. 👍😀
Thanks 👍
I'm not a watch person, but found this very exciting. Amazing how this was designed, and how ever all these parts were manufactured. Makes you really appreciate the intricacy of the analog world vs the smaller silicon electronics.
Pleased you enjoyed it from a non watch perspective. These are a true marvel at micro engineering. Accurate to 1 minute a month and that was in the 60s before quartz . Incredible
Nice end results
Simply beautiful restoration Mike.
Many thanks. Not taken the watch off for a week
'Watch accuracy meter' app works well. The trend display is useful. Hold the phone mic. against the crystal. Also remove nearby electromagnetic interference ie. tablet....
Hi Mike, is this citizen for sale?
Sorry no. I would not put all that effort in just to let it go. I am planning on eventually selling watches I’ve restored but it still a few months off from happening.
